AHL announces suspension February 2, 2010 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced that Lowell Devils defenseman Olivier Magnan has been suspended for two (2) games as a result of his actions in a game at Worcester on Jan. 31. Magnan was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 29.1 (supplementary discipline). Magnan will miss Lowell’s games Wednesday (Feb. 3) vs. Hartford and Friday (Feb. 5) at Worcester

About as much as we could hope for, I guess. I may be a minority but I believe that suspensions are way too short to have any impact on these guys. AHL and NHL alike are concerned about taking talent off the ice. I think it is pathetic. Blatent infractions resulting in injury to another player should result in a suspension for a period no shorter than the time the injured player is out.

The only problem with suspending a player as long as another is injured is what's to stop a team from claiming an injury continues to a lesser player to keep another team's star player off the ice?
