1/28/12 - Taylor got his 1st pro point against the Monarchs
It happened in the 3rd period - James Livingston assisted by Marek Viedensky and Taylor Doherty @16:34
Sharks 2 Monarchs 3 : Final OT. According to Bill Ballou worcester Telegram"Taylor Doherty picked up his first
professional point when he assisted on James Livingston’s goal in the third period. It snapped a 33-game pointless
streak this season — 36 games dating back to the end of last season.
Sharks 2 Monarchs 3.
It was not the longest pointless streak in team history. Frazer McLaren went 45 games between points
from Oct. 17, 2008, to Feb. 6, 2009, after getting a point in his first game of the season.
That streak also ended in this building.
Doherty’s streak was the Sharks’ longest to start a season, and longest to start a career."
10-11 - Taylor wore # 28
According to Bill Ballou From the Telegram and Gazette - Taylor is the tallest player in
Worcester hockey history.

2-16  - John joins the 50th club - According to Bill Ballou's article
from the telegram -
Early deficit no problem for Worcester Sharks (2-17)
McCarthy joins 50 club
John McCarthy's goal in the first period was his 50th for the Sharks.
McCarthy joined Riley Armstrong, Mike Iggulden, Graham Mink and
Brandon Mashinter as the only players in the 50-goal club.
Including the IceCats, 16 Worcester players have 50 or more career goals.
1-18 - Returned on loan from SJ

4/5/12 - Bill Ballou from the Telegram.com (4-5)
AHL: John McCarthy, Mike Moore were top Worcester Sharks
Best of the 2011-12 Worcester Sharks
Most Valuable Player — John McCarthy.
As has been asked before in this corner, why is McCarthy here when so many players
in the NHL aren’t as good as him? It has been to the Sharks’ benefit, since he has been
their most reliable player all season long, and it isn’t that easy being a strong player on
a weak team. The fact that he is second on the franchise’s all-time plus-minus list says
about all anyone needs to know.

"It was the second career OT goal for McCarthy, the other also coming up here last March 22
in what was also a comeback victory for the Sharks."
10-11
3/22/11 - According to Bill Ballou from the Telegram and Gazette John
made a record for scoring the Sharks quickest overtime goal. It was 16 seconds into OT.
He got the #1 Star of the game .

Best of the 2011-12 Worcester Sharks
Rookie of the Year — Sena Acolatse.
It probably would have been Mike Connolly if he hadn’t been traded, and Nathan Moon’s point totals
and PIMs create a pretty strong case for him. Rookie of the Year is an interesting call at this level —
it doesn’t necessarily go to the best prospect. In this case, Acolatse seemed to do things that
made him better than his plus-minus, and is probably the best prospect among Worcester’s many rookies.

1/19/13 - Matt played with Michael Pelech .his younger brother #39 According to Sharkspage.com
write up - WorSharks can’t beat the men wearing orange, lose 2-1 (1-20)
"Yesterday marked the first time in “modern” Worcester professional hockey history that two
brothers dressed in the same game for the home town team when Matt and Michael Pelech
skated together yesterday. Ironically, it’s also the first time they’ve ever played on the same
team together."

4/5/12 -Bill Ballou from the Telegram.com (4-5)
AHL: John McCarthy, Mike Moore were top Worcester Sharks
Seventh Player — Matt Pelech.
It’s hard to imagine Pelech was a healthy scratch for several games early in the
season when the Sharks had too many defensemen. After that, the weeks he spent
as a fourth-line forward seemed to jump-start his season. When he went back to defense,
Pelech looked more confident and, as the season went on, he became more involved offensively.
He turned out to be an excellent offseason signing, and bringing him back should be a priority.

1-14 - According to Bill Ballou from  his article - Sharks-Pirates' second period had it all, slowly.
"Bonneau nearly a vet
Jimmy Bonneau played in his 260th AHL game. The next time he plays, he becomes an official
AHL veteran, although his status — Bonneau will be in the “exempt veteran” category — will not kick in until
2013-14, assuming that there is no rule change. That will make it a bit easier for Bonneau to stay here next season,
if that’s what he and the Sharks want.
